A cholecystectomy is the process to remove your gallbladder. The gallbladder is a little organ located beneath your liver. It's placed on the upper right side of your belly or abdomen. The gallbladder stores bile, which is a digestive fluid that the liver produces. There are two methods available for gallbladder removal: open (traditional) method. Using this method, a single, 4–6 inch-long incision is created in the upper right side of your stomach. The surgeon locates the gallbladder and extracts it via the incision.Laparoscopic methods. Three to four minuscule incisions are made throughout this surgery. It makes use of a long, thin tube called a laparoscope.
